Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is a place of wonder. The redwoods are incredibly beautiful and awe inspiring. A religious like reverence comes over you when you first see them. Justin and I visited my brother in Ashland, Oregon, this past fall and had the opportunity to explore Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
Located just south of the Oregon border, the park is situation on the Smith River. We (well they, I have never been able to well) skipped rocks along the river and then took a nature walk through the park.
While we were there I had a chance to play around with some of my camera settings. The lack of light in the forest gave me an opportunity to play with shadows and darkness, as I am usually fond of exposing my images to a lot of light.
It misted a soft rain off and on while were there, just further enhancing this native Arizonans gratitude towards this magical place. It’s amazingly quiet here, even though there were quite a few other hikers present. The blanket of pine needles provides a carpet-like feel under your feet and the many look out posts give you a place for private reflection.
We had a wonderful first experience visiting the Redwoods and can’t wait to go again.
